Twice Blessed

Twice Blessed is the LGBTQ group at Temple Isaiah & JCC.  The name is derived from the two blessings of being Jewish and LGBTQ. Twice Blessed works to build the community and presence of our LGBTQ members.  We do that by offering social and educational activities that complement the religious life of the synagogue, as well as providing opportunities to discuss issues and concerns of LGBT Jews at the JCC.  We build comradery for LGBTQ members, support for Israel, and commitment to Temple Isaiah & JCC in the Coachella Valley. Twice Blessed is a celebration of the broader acceptance and we feel there is need to show this part of the Jewish community that they are not only accepted, but that they are welcomed, supported, and encouraged at our synagogue.

With the support of the Jewish Federation of the Desert, Twice Blessed has been able to enhance the type and number of events that we offer, including: social activities, lectures, films and musical performances. In 2017 we hope to expand these efforts to build LGBTQ Jewish local engagement as well as the connection with and support for Israel. All programs include time for attendees to discuss the content of the event, as well as time for socializing to build connection with the local Jewish community.
