
Born and raised in Studio City, California, Don received his Jewish education at the Valley Jewish Community Center (VJCC), now know as Adat Ariel in North Hollywood. He was a leader of the Junior Congregation along with Nathan Lam, and Robert Scherr, who both went on to become Cantors of great renown.
Don majored in Music at UCLA in voice and sang professionally for many years. He sang with the Ray Conniff singers and toured with them in Europe and Japan, and made appearances in Las Vegas and Reno. He also performed at the White House during a State dinner honoring Willie Brandt, the Chancellor of West Germany. In addition, he was part of a New Year’s gala celebration in Mexico City honoring the President of Mexico. Don also sang in several radio and television commercials and performed live as a member of the Pacific Southwest Airlines Gallery Singers, performed live in many California airports. He is also proud to have performed in the halftime show for Super Bowl I.
Since 1991, Don has conducted High Holy Day Services aboard ship for Princess Cruises. He was elected as a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Isaiah of Palm Springs and served as the Cantorial Soloist for Temple Har El in Palm Desert for two years. More recently, he has assisted at Temple Isaiah as Cantorial Soloist on special occasions and during summer months and takes great pride in serving as permanent Cantor for Temple Isaiah.
